Combat gear on the sofa at home.
On deployment, the days are counted until the return home. At the same time, shared duties and hardships bring the group together. Everyday life includes successes, danger and conflicts. Getting along with everyone is not always easy, but the group carries on together.
Back home, comrades are in different places and the days find a new rhythm. Life on deployment still stays with them. It can be missed even after wanting to come home. Those who were there share the same events. Someone who served on another deployment may recognise something of their own experience.
A soldier's work continues in the reserve or back in their unit. Skills and physical and mental fitness still need care. That can also require help from others. Responsibility towards one's country remains.
