Why the quality shows: the Potero Standard Hoodie, finish and comfort
Share
Introduction
A good hoodie is one of the few garments where the quality shows immediately: in the weight of the fabric, in the fit, and in how the badge is made. The Potero Standard Hoodie is built for exactly that: an embroidered Potero badge on the front, an empty back, and a whole that works in everyday life, on the trip to training and in free time.
A hoodie is not just a garment. It is the one you rely on, and it has to take use and look good year after year. Potero Standard's core thinking shows in the fact that the hoodie is made to be used, not just looked at.
Where the quality in this hoodie comes from
Talking about quality is easy. So here is what the product page actually promises, nothing more.
A 288 g/m² Cotton Heritage base
The hoodie is 288 g/m², which is heavy medium. The difference is noticed straight away in the hand: the fabric is neither thin nor floppy, and it holds its shape. Firmer than an ordinary basic hoodie, but not as thick and cumbersome as a 300-360 g/m² heavyweight.
- Structure: a denser knit keeps the neckline and hem clean, even after washing.
- Warmth: enough on its own for a cool day, and works as a mid layer under a jacket.
- Durability: thicker fabric handles rucksack straps and repeated use.
The weight classes are covered in plain language in the GSM guide.
An embroidered badge, not a printed logo
The Potero badge on the front is embroidered, not printed. It is a small difference with a long effect: embroidery does not crack or fade in the wash the way a print does. The badge looks the same after years of use.
The back print is DTG, and it ages in use
On the models that have a back print, the print is DTG. It reproduces the graphic accurately when new. DTG also softens and wears over years of use. That is normal for the technique and part of how the garment naturally takes on a patina. There is a separate piece on print technique.
The Potero Standard Hoodie is the option in the range with no back print at all: the back is empty.
When the base, the badge and the print are all right, a hoodie becomes a reliable choice. It gets pulled on without thinking.
Made to order
Items are printed to order, not to a warehouse. The range is not made into waste, and delivery takes a little longer than a stocked item. Designed in Finland, printed in Latvia.
Comfort and size
The cut is unisex. Comfort comes down to choosing the size by the measurements rather than by feel.
Size chart (chest width = armpit to armpit, laid flat):
- S: chest width 50.8 cm, length 68.6 cm
- M: chest width 53.3 cm, length 71.1 cm
- L: chest width 58.4 cm, length 73.7 cm
- XL: chest width 63.5 cm, length 76.2 cm
- 2XL: chest width 67.3 cm, length 78.7 cm
- 3XL: chest width 71.1 cm, length 81.3 cm
Measure a hoodie you already own as a reference. Normal production tolerance is about ±1-3 cm. If you are between two sizes, take the larger for a more relaxed fit. Instructions are in the size guide.
The other models on the same base
Every Potero Standard hoodie shares the same frame: a 288 g/m² Cotton Heritage base, an embroidered front badge and a unisex cut. The difference comes from the back print:
- Kaukopartio Hoodie: a tribute to the long-range patrol men, with a long-range patrol back print.
- I Hate Those Damn Drones Hoodie: when uninvited eyes are buzzing in the airspace, the position is clear.
- Stand With Ukraine Hoodie: Potero Standard's way of doing its bit.
- Defender QRF Hoodie: for those who know.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Potero Standard Hoodie made of?
A 288 g/m² Cotton Heritage base, that is a heavy medium. The cut is unisex, and there is an embroidered Potero badge on the front.
How does the Potero Standard Hoodie differ from other hoodies?
The build is the same as the rest of the Potero Standard hoodies. The difference is that this model has an empty back, which makes it the easiest to combine in the range.
Does the embroidery survive washing?
An embroidered badge handles washing and wear better than a print, because the design is stitched into the fabric rather than printed on the surface. Still wash inside out at 30-40 °C and avoid tumble drying.
Is the Potero Standard Hoodie available in different colours?
Current colour options are on the product page: Potero Standard Hoodie.
Can I return the hoodie if it does not fit?
Yes. There is a 14-day right of withdrawal from delivery. Send the withdrawal notice first by email to hq@poterostandard.fi, and return the item within 14 days of that notice. The item must be unused, unwashed and resaleable (trying it on is fine).
Summary
Quality in this hoodie is not a marketing word: it is a 288 g/m² base that holds its shape, an embroidered badge that does not fade, and an honest account of how a DTG print ages in use. When the size is chosen by the measurements, the result is a garment you can rely on and come back to day after day.
